My “Marvelous Toy” Hacks for the Hitachi Magic Wand - Make the Best Even Better!

There are a lot of fancy and expensive vibrators/sex toys available for women but a girl can’t get anything as simple to use and more reliable than the Hitachi Magic Wand.

The Hitachi Magic Wand has several things going for it:

First, it doesn’t look like a sex toy! It just looks like a massager, and it is probably the best sex toy ever made at such an affordable price.

Second, it is simple to operate with two speeds to choose from: Low or High and its length and design make it easy to put it where you need it.

Third it is effective. It gives really good vibrations with out a lot of noise and since it is corded it never runs out of power.

Fourth, it is well made and reliable. I have used mine regularly for nearly two decades. The only thing we have had to replace is the cord, more on that in a minute.

Fifth, it can also be uses as a massager. In case you need to work out the kinks in your neck or back muscles before or after you get kinky.

Now onto ways to “Hack” your Hitachi Magic Wand.

The Hitachi Magic Wand comes with a standard 6 foot electric cord. With regular use the cord gets weakened where it enters the handle and will short out and cause it to stop working.

I learned this the hard way. Let me tell you how very frustrating it is to be right on the edge of a massive clitoral orgasm, to have the tension built up and know with just a few more seconds of vibration you are going to experience an incredible toe curling, scream into the pillow so you don’t wake the kids climax; and when you are almost there…oh yes, yes, Ye.. (“Snap”, “pop” and then silence), oh no, NOOOooo……and your vibrator shorts out and quits working. Very, very frustration let me tell you. I laugh about it now.

This happened a couple of times over the years with my hubby having to replace the power cord. Then he came up with the perfect solution: he replaced the 6 foot cord with the 25 ft long cord from an old vacuum cleaner. Not only is the cord sturdier and not prone to weakening at the handle and shorting out, it doesn’t easily tangle. Plus the added length makes it easy to take the vibrator along when you have sex in different locations in your bedroom without having to worry about finding an outlet nearby. The same goes for when you travel and stay in a hotel. The extra long cord is very convenient.

My first Hitachi Magic Wand Hack is to replace the standard issue cord with a long vacuum cleaner cord.

The second Hack has to do with the speed and intensity of the vibrations. Since the vibrator only has two speeds some women may find it both too fast and too powerful for their needs. I have found a corded plug-in lamp dimmer slide switch can be used to adjust the speed. The disadvantage to this is the cord on the dimmer switch is 6 foot long, so its functionality may be limited by the length of the cord.

Another way to vary the intensity of the vibration is to put a clean sock over the vibrating head of the Hitachi Magic Wand. This is a lot more convenient than using the dimmer switch. Plus you don’t risk damaging your marvelous toy by using the dimmer switch to vary the power. My hubby says it won’t cause any damage, but the manufacturer may disagree. Besides the sock method is a lot cheaper and you aren’t limited by the power cord’s length.

Here is a video demonstrating the sock method. Be advised it is adult in nature and rather humorous too at the end:

You can also use a towel to dampen the vibrations or buy special covering for the head, but the clean sock is works just as well and is a whole lot cheaper and you just toss it in the laundry when you are done. I keep a stash of clean socks in the drawer next to the bed just for this purpose.

Seduction for Guys in a Relationship

I should mention that any modifications (such as replacing the cord) done to your Hitachi Magic Wand will void its warranty. But my hubby says they are well made and anyone that is handy with a soldering iron and knows basic wiring can replace the cord without any problems. I suspect than many owners that think their marvelous toys has burned out after a few years probably just need to replace the cord. Besides if your Hitachi Magic Wand is more than a couple of years old it is out of the warranty period anyway.

The final Hack is useful for many items not just the Hitachi Magic wand. You’ll need a bedside organizer or caddy and a small electric heat pad. Carefully fold the heat pad and tuck it into the large compartment of the bedside caddy. Then place the Hitachi Magic Wand inside the folded heat pad. Set the heat pad to the lowest setting an hour or so before you’ll be using your “marvelous toy” to make it nice and warm for when you cozy it up to your tender parts. Make sure it is not too warm.

The other pockets are great for storing your personal lubes or other sex accessories. You can also put your lube in with the heat pad to warm it up too. Do loosen the cap and keep it upright so it won’t swell or leak as it expands from being warmed and test the temperature of the lube on your wrist before using to make sure it is not too hot.

  1. I am trying to replace my power cord at the moment, inspired by you! I am having some trouble finding any tutorials or diagrams on how to replace the cord. Do you (or your husband) have any tips or further instruction? I am getting desperate without my favorrite toy.

  2. There are 2 kinds of Hitachi. The real one has a big motor in the handle. The Fugazi ones have a small motor all in the head. My small one was screeching like an owl so:
    1) Remove the vinyl cover (like a condom) over the top.
    2) Remove some of the foam to get access to 6 little screws (need jewelers type phillips screws
    3) put a drop of 3 in one oil in the oil hole of the motor and near both ends of spindle
    4) remove clear plastic motor sheath
    5) replace motor sheath with double-styk tape a around and set back in situ. Make sure 1/2 moon vibrator is clear.
    6) Replace screws. Test motor it should be quiet and smooth . If ok
    7) Put back foam and wrap with electruical tape
    8) Finally to keep vinyl from rotating over electrical tap put one loop of double styk tap and
put back on white vinyl cover.
    You're done.
